Monday, June 30, 2008
Kelly Renick
Age: 21
Sign: Taurus
Hometown: Lawrence
Occupation: Teacher/writer for a new literary magazine, Secret Best Friends.
What were you doing when scouted? Editing one of my stories.
Favorite stores? Wild Man Vintage, La Parilla, Zen Zero, Aladdin's Cafe, The Goodwill, ATC, and Love Garden.
How would you describe your style? 1970's secretary on a picnic.
Where do you get your hair cut? I usually cut my own hair.
Favorite trends? Mod fashions and simple dresses. I really like big sunglasses, big headbands, mom shorts, pencil skirts, and frilly things.
Least favorite trends? Flared jeans, jean skirts in general, printed T-shirts, and really orange fake tans.
Favorite coffee shop? La Prima Tazza. I like it for Alex and John and Anne!
Favorite bar? I like the Replay because people burn me with their cigarettes, and I like the Tap Room because I get bored there.
What would you like to see more of in Lawrence? Smiles. I also would like to see better art displayed downtown, more bicycles, and more mullets.
What would you like to see less of? Less dreadlocks (except Marty-- he's o.k) and less construction. Oh, and less Chris Clark.
Who are your fashion influences? Alex from La Prima Tazza and Emily Haines from Metric.
What book are you reading? Short Stories by Lorrie Moore and Secret Carnival Workers by Paul Haines.
Tell us a secret: Until the age of 15, I told people that I wanted to be a dinosaur when I grew up.
