NH Street to close for Wilco concert

A major downtown concert will have an impact on traffic starting early Wednesday morning.

New Hampshire Street between Ninth and 10th streets will be closed to through traffic beginning at 6 a.m. Wednesday to accommodate a concert by the band Wilco.

Pedestrian access on the street will remain open until 5 p.m., when organizers will start requiring concert tickets to enter the area. Pedestrian access for people needing to attend classes at the adjacent Lawrence Arts Center will remain open throughout the evening.

Access to the parking garage at Ninth and New Hampshire streets also will be available. People will be able to access the garage from the Ninth Street entrance or from the southernmost entrance on New Hampshire Street. The northern entrance on New Hampshire Street will be closed.

Traffic on Ninth and 10th streets will be open. The concert is expected to attract about 3,000 people to downtown.
