Embarrassing Facebook Hacks

Daily Dose

Ever hear of 4chan? It's ostensibly a "simple image-based bulletin board," but it's actually a roiling cauldron of the sickest mind scum on the internet. And by "sickest" I mean "most disgusting," not "sickest" in that "the Kottonmouth Kings show was the sickest thing ever" kind of way. If you ever wanted to know what hentai is, this is the site for you (WARNING: You do not want to know what hentai is).

On top of being a one stop shopping site for "World of Warcraft" porn and extended conversations about cartoons with giant robots, it's also infested with hackers. Weird, right? You wouldn't think that computer hackers and grown men obsessed with "Dragon Ball Z" would run in the same circles, you know? There you go again with your strange bedfellows, Internet!

Some of 4chan's greatest hits include its war with AT&T and #gorillapenis on Twitter. Not content to sit on their flaccid and diabetic laurels, the brain trust over at 4chan recently hacked a Christian dating site and have been using the ill gotten personal information to humiliate people on Facebook. God forbid they find Farmers Only.

Generally, the hacker posts an obscene photo or comment on someone's profile and act as though the real user posted it by mistake. Since a lot of these keep popping up in web-media as genuine goofs on the part of the internet illiterate, frequently on Lamebook and STFU, Parents, I thought I'd help pop that little meme. Keep in mind I don't find these funny. I actually feel bad for the victims. This is just a public service, a preemptive "FAKE!" for those duped into believing they're witnessing authentic viral material.

First up, since Evangelical Christians are being targeted, there are a lot of updates dealing with loss of faith:

Next is the old "I can't believe I posted this pornographic photo by accident and don't know how to get it off of the computer box thing" ruse:

Some plain old incriminating posts:

And generally just a lot of snide and rude comments:

They can get a lot nastier, up to fake suicide notes and racism, but you get the idea. Just keep a grain of salt handy next time you see a Facebook faux pas surging on Digg or Reddit. I won't say, "Because knowing is half the battle," however. I can't. "G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra" sucked the joy out of it.

The radio show "On the Media" talked about 4chan a while back with an NYTimes reporter:
