Name: Caitlin Cooper
Age: 21.
Sign: Pisces.
Hometown: Skiatook, Okla.
Time in Lawrence: Two years.
Occupation: Student at Haskell University majoring in Indigenous and American Indian Studies.
What were you doing when scouted? Listening to the new Beach House record on campus.
How would you describe your style? I have a country-western, ranchland style, and much of my look is inspired by nature. The terrain around my house — the woods and the wetlands — fuels ideas and eventually becomes a cohesive part of my style.
What are your current favorite fashion trends? I wear boots and leather apparel daily, but I alter the material and aesthetic design of my clothing according to the weather. In this way, my closet is all-purpose and multi-seasonal.
What are your least favorite fashion trends? If items look out of place — like they belong in an alternate climate — I don’t quite understand their appeal.
What would you like to see more of in Lawrence? I would love to see a store that offers basic wardrobe pieces that can be easily mixed and matched, integrated into my current wardrobe; although such stores do exist in Lawrence, more affordable options with broader style selections would benefit our.
What would you like to see less of in Lawrence? Coming to Lawrence from a smaller town, I appreciate Lawrencians that maintain a comfortable, open-minded social environment. In my hometown, many people do not utilize clothing as a means of self-expression. Many people are not as exposed to the new, diverse clothing options that are available.
Who are your fashion influences? My parents were pretty hip in their youth. They were in a band together, and I like to look through old photographs taken during that time. I’ve inherited several articles of clothing from my mom. In the pictures, I notice how she used to style a piece, and at times I create a similar or new look of my own.
People say I look like: People say I resemble Amy Winehouse, but I don’t really agree. I’ve also heard Jennifer Connelly, Patty Hearst, and Chrissie Hynde from The Pretenders.
Tell us a secret: I only take my boots off to sleep. I wear them all day long until its time for bed. I like the rhythm and the sound they create as I walk.

You can't fool me. The boots and jeans in the smaller picture are different than Caitlin Cooper's boots and jeans.
