I think people are secretly as scared of Santa Claus as they are of clowns. They're both colorfully dressed and like to lure children into their clutches with toys, it's just that there hasn't been a serial killer dressed as Santa Clause. Yet.
Just you wait...once John Wayne Gacy Claus strikes, and a stash of dead elves are found in the crawl space beneath his workshop, Santas are going to be as openly feared as Pennywise from "It."
As it is, there's merely an unspecified, queasy unease with Santa. It was perfectly captured in "A Christmas Story," and now it's given new voice with Sketchy Santas. It's a site devoted to off-putting hobos with white beards and the children who are terrified of them.
Enjoy a stocking stuffed with horror from Sketchy Santas! (Hat tip to Michael!)

My five year old thought these were just as funny as I did. We don't "do Santa" at our house, but I couldn't pass up the chance when we were at the store one day and Santa was at the bank there. My oldest two were three and five at the time and three year old is literally rolling his eyes in the picture. It's so funny!

You're raising those kids right, alm. And I was remiss in the original post by not mentioning some of our local sketchy Santas (whom we love):

What about the guy who drives around town in the red convertible (I think it's a Chrysler LeBaron) with no doors, gold trim and a Santa hat? He looks like White Owl, but I'm not sure if it's him or not.
