The British government yesterday banned Fred Phelps and members of Topeka's Westboro Baptist Church from entering the United Kingdom, saying the Phelps family engaged in "unacceptable behavior by inciting hatred against a number of communities." The Phelps clan was apparently planning to fly to the United Kingdom to protest a performance of “The Laramie Project,” about Wyoming student Matthew Shepard, who was murdered for being gay. Said Shirley Phelps-Roper, Fred's daughter, “We’re going to picket a second-rate play, put on by a third-, fourth-rate college. What the heck?”*..."And I don't understand why everyone in England thinks we're protesting smoking," said Phelps-Roper while holding a sign that reads "God Hates Fags."
