Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince * 1/2
The sixth movie in the "Harry Potter" series is its most disappointing. For all of its visual splendor, it bungles the details and reduces J.K. Rowling's rich fantasy world to a vague and arbitrary dullness.
The Potter cast has faced down unimaginable evils, from dark sorcerers to dragons, but how do you think they’ve fared against their ultimate adversary—puberty? Who’s aged well and who should be hidden behind a cloak of invisibility for the rest of their ugly and tragic lives?
“So far, puberty has done okay for them, at least judging from the number of pervy comments online about most of the cast. Maybe we're all just distracted from teenage awkwardness by the flashing of underwear and naughty bits?”
Do you feel even the teensiest twinge of shame for reading young adult literature? If so, what’s the best way to conceal reading a Harry Potter book in public? Hiding it behind an issue of The New Yorker? Hiring a dwarf to pose as a daughter or niece and pretending to read it aloud for their sake?
“Reading Harry Potter books is one of my least embarrassing pastimes, so I'm never ashamed to be seen in the young adult section at the library. I do feel compelled to suggest a day out with the neighbor kids to see the movies so I'm not the strange girl at the movie by myself.”

“Twilight, hands down. There are no sparkly, vegetarian vampires in Harry Potter.”

“Anything but ‘Chamber of Secrets.’”
What’s the best film adaptation so far?
“’Order of the Phoenix’ was probably the best so far because of the darker, scarier feel.”
