You may have caught The Sailor Sequence opening for The Appleseed Cast last December. They were the ones in the front row for the headliner’s set, playing close attention and eating it up with wide-eyed grins.

The Sailor Sequence is making a name for themselves with a sound that’s a sonic cousin to The Appleseed Cast. The group stopped in to share tracks from their new “5” EP and discuss their plans if the world comes to an end in 2012.

Though they won’t earn many hipster points for repping Olathe, The Sailor Sequence is turning heads with a sound that’s a sonic cousin to the ‘Cast. The group spends long hours tweaking little details such as glitchy drum programming, found noises, and oodles of effects pedals. It’s all presented with a melodic sensibility along the lines of Death Cab for Cutie, though instrumental acts like Lymbyc Systym and Explosions in the Sky also figure into the picture.
