Name: Matthew Stackswell
Hometown: Washington, D.C
Time in Lawrence: 6 months
Occupation: HR Analyst, DJ, writer for Evil Monito magazine.
What were you doing when scouted? I was on my way to Love Garden to go buy a record.
Favorite places? Tap Room, Love Garden, Thai Siam, and Wild Man Vintage.
How would you describe your style? East Village meets The Bronx.
Where do you get your hair cut? I go to a private barber. A kid from New Jersey.
Favorite trends? Sunglasses, topsiders, and nautical shorts. For girls, I like flats and headbands.
Least favorite trends? Sweatpants worn out of the house for both guys and girls. That is a sign that someone gives up on life.
Tattoos/piercings? I have ten tattoos that were done all around the world. Some were done at Read Street Tattoo in Baltimore and at Saved Tattoo in Brooklyn.
Favorite coffee shop? I like going to the Pig because they also serve alcohol in their corrected coffee drinks. I like the soy venetian latte.
Favorite bar? I'd have to say The Tap Room because I DJ there, and there's a family vibe because everyone knows each other.
What would you like to see more of in Lawrence? I'd like to see more national touring acts come through town. I'd also like to see more vegan cuisine.
What would you like to see less of in Lawrence? White hats and crappy indie bands.
Who are your fashion influences? I'm really influenced by the vibe of the East Village—it's a place I really connect with and a good outlet for fun. I also am interested in Swiss graphic design and how that manifests into tangible articles. I really like clothing and designs that are clean and simple.
What's your song of the moment? "Show Me Love" by Robin S.
Tell us a secret: I am really OCD about aligning things.
