What are your wardrobe essentials? Jackets — I have tons of jackets. My favorite is a gray Members Only jacket. My favorite used to be a red/burgundy jacket I had, but it disappeared at a Girl Talk concert.

What were you doing when scouted? I was hanging out on my front porch.

How would you describe your style? My style is a twist of the ’80s, mixed with modern. For example, high-top shoes but more mod-cut/slim-fit clothing.

What are your current favorite fashion trends for men? The V-neck. It’s a basic, classic shape. It’s comfortable and breezy.

What are your current favorite fashion trends for women? I think leggings are God’s gift to the world. They look good, and they work with all clothing styles. T-shirt and leggings — looks great; dress and leggings — looks great.

What are your least favorite fashion trends? I’m not a huge fan of big, boot-cut jeans. They cover up your shoes. Shoes are the icing on the cake! You have to show off your shoes, unless they are plastic flip-flops. I don’t mind some open-toe sandals for men if they are more fashion-forward.

What would you like to see more of in Lawrence? I’d like to see more boutiques, more couture clothing companies that cater to men, and a store that offers more menswear accessories.

What would you like to see less of in Lawrence? The independent stores are my favorite part about Lawrence, so I’d really like to see less of the common. The interesting finds, the shops, and the people of Lawrence truly make the city stand out. Nothing bums me out more than when I buy a new shirt and then I see someone else wearing it the next day.

Who are your fashion influences? Michael Jackson. The highlight of his wardrobe or look was his jacket. His jackets were fitted — slim-cut. Plus, I always wear my sleeves rolled up like Jackson, too. David Bowie is another favorite. He wears pieces in a distinct way, not in line with everyone else. It’s inspirational.

People say I look like: People often tell me Roger Matthews, who lives in Lawrence. He’s my local doppelganger, I guess. He’s a good friend of mine.

Tell us a secret: I know all of Michael Jackson’s dance moves. I know the entire routine for “Thriller” and “Beat It” ... most of “Bad,” too.
