"Silver Shoes," A Paul Miles Schneider reading and book signing
- Tuesday, October 6, 2009, 7 p.m.
- Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vermont St., Lawrence
- All ages / Free
A Lawrence native now living in Los Angeles is returning to his home town this week to read and sign copies of his new book based on “The Wizard of Oz.”
Paul Miles Schneider will appear at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lawrence Public Library.
His book, “Silver Shoes,” is written for an upper elementary or middle school audience. When Donald Gardner puts on a strange silver shoe purchased in Kansas, strange things begin to happen. Flying monkeys appear, and secrets from the past are revealed. It brings into question whether Oz was a real place, and whether it still exists.
Schneider was born in New York City and raised in Lawrence, where he attended Sunset Hill School and West Junior High School. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1981. He earned a theater/voice and music composition degree from Kansas University, and he now lives in Los Angeles, where he has worked as an actor, singer, composer, arranger, writer and graphic designer. “Silver Shoes” is his first book.
The reading is free and open to the public. The Raven Bookstore will have copies available for purchase.
