What were you doing when scouted? I was just leaving the credit union, getting ready to go home from work.
How would you describe your style? Both my work wardrobe and my day-to-day dress are fairly conservative. I lean toward classic pieces for their versatility and longevity.
What are your current favorite fashion trends? I love all of fall’s new chunky necklaces and colorful scarves. There is so much variety and personal choice available in fashion right now — skirt lengths are short or long, jeans can be high-waisted or mid-rise, wide-leg or skinny. Women can finally choose what we like and still be fashionable. I choose what looks good on me and makes me feel most feminine.
What are your least favorite fashion trends? As a general rule, I think one trendy piece per outfit is enough. Piles of trendy items look over-the-top. Whether it’s in style or not, over-accessorizing ruins an outfit.
What would you like to see more of in Lawrence? I want to see fitted tweeds, two-piece suits, and wool jackets and skirts. Also, I want to see more boots. In the fall, I pair boots with almost everything — jeans, trousers, skirts.
What would you like to see less of in Lawrence? Although I already see this less and less, I would like to see fewer low-cut jeans paired with little, midriff shirts. I would also like to see fewer mini-skirts paired with platform high-heels.
Who are your fashion influences? Because I tend to dress pretty classically, Jackie Kennedy is one influence. I buy wardrobe essentials that I like — normally more fitted, feminine pieces.
What is your number one wardrobe essential? A crisp white shirt — my current favorite is a dress shirt by Victoria’s Secret with French cuffs.
People say I look like: People normally say my daughter looks like me!
