Name: Chris (Randall) Dickinson.
Age: 23.
Sign: Capricorn (sea-goat).
Time in Lawrence: 6 years.
Hometown: Derby / Wichita.
Occupation: Freelance Web developer.
What were you doing when scouted: Running home to watch “Mystery Science Theater 3000” on Netflix post La Prima Tazza-ing.
How would you describe your style: Penitently transitional bachelor-wear.
Who are your fashion influences: Andy French from “Mission Hill,” Chris Clark, twenty-something passers-by.
What are your favorite fashion trends: Oversize flannel button-ups are pretty rad. Bright purple hoodies.
What are your least-favorite fashion trends: Uggs. Not really a trend, but North Face brand stuff somehow bores me to death. I’m not a colossal fan of the super high-waisted jeans secretly, though I don’t really hold it against folk. Just not really a fan somehow.
What would you like to see more of in Lawrence: Shark tanks. Evil villain lair-themed coffee shops. Surf music. Summer. Fresh fruit. Big sodas.
What would you like to see less of in Lawrence: The next season-and-a-half. Cold doesn’t bode well with me. Tiny sodas, also.
People say I look like: Pre-Zooey Deschanel Ben Gibbard, most often. I’m not sure I agree. I think he’s got kind of a froggier-looking mouth? I might be underestimating my mouth’s frogginess.
Tell us a secret: My mental white noise is A-Ha’s “Take on Me.” If I’m ever looking even remotely pensive, I’m really just playing that song on repeat in my head. If that’s not soul-searching enough, I guess 13-year-old me cried in class at the end of reading S.E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders.” I played it off by telling my classmates that my dog had died.
What are you going to be for Halloween? Schrödinger’s bat. What could be more terrifying than a bat that is neither dead nor alive?
How are you coping with this early cold spell? Partially: attempting to not believe in it. When that fails me: eating lots of really fatty food and grinning stupidly about it.
