For more than a month now, the Lawrence Journal-World has accepted entries for the "Dear Lawrence" community photo project, which juxtaposes an old photograph with its current surroundings as the backdrop. We've received quite a few local submissions and our own photographers have created some outstanding pieces as well.
This Final Friday, we're celebrating the success of the project with the "Dear Lawrence" exhibit inside our own News Center, 645 N.H. Starting at 5 p.m., we'll have work on display from our staff photographers Mike Yoder, Kevin Anderson, Nick Krug and Richard Gwin, as well as work from Rick Mitchell, Tim Forcade and Earl Richardson. The more than 100 submitted photos from the community will be shown on a 42-inch TV in the lobby with 12 of those photos enlarged and displayed in print along with the regular exhibit.
But enough about the details, enjoy the photo gallery and we hope to see you Friday. Again, the exhibit starts a 5 p.m.

Members of our photography staff, local photographers and all of you are invited to participate in our Dear Lawrence Community photo project. These are some of the great photos we've received so far, but there's still time to participate. Get out your old photos and your cameras and start submitting. You can do it via email to dearlawrence@ljworld.com, or by posting a photo on our Facebook page wall at Facebook.com/LJWorld.
