Lied Center concert to have Irish flair

A one-night performance at the Lied Center will feature heartwarming Irish tales and toe-tapping Irish music sung by Lawrence native Ashley Davis.

The show, “Ashley Davis and Friends Present a Winter Concert of Irish Songs and Tales,” is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Lied Center, 1600 Stewart Ave.

Davis — who holds a master’s degree from the University of Limerick and has toured as a soloist for Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance — will be joined by local musicians Joe Pickett on mandolin, Michael Paull on piano and Megan Hurt on violin, with special guest harpist Cormac De Barra from Dublin, Ireland.

Kansas University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute is putting on the event. Tickets are $20. For more information or to buy tickets, visit or call 864-5823.

We have been looking forward to Ashley's concert for quite some time. An incredible voice that can whisk you away to the mystic land of the Celts in an instant. For those not familiar with Ashley her CD's are available at Brits.
