The featured artist at this year’s Red Ribbon Art Auction will be Jennifer Jo Webster, a painter known for her colorful, island-inspired style.
A number of other artists’ works will join Webster’s at the 20th annual auction, which benefits the Douglas County AIDS Project.
The event will take place Nov. 10 at Maceli’s, 1031 New Hampshire. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the auction begins at 8 p.m.
Tickets are $30 in advance or $35 at the door. To purchase tickets in advance, call the AIDS Project offices at 843-0040 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Webster currently lives in Lawrence but previously lived and worked in Hawaii, where she moved for health reasons after being diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus.
In addition to watercolor and oil paintings, her portfolio includes candle making, textiles, spinning, dying of yarns, creating original designs of leather vests for local rock stars, basketry, batik, sewing and photography.
Webster’s website, j-shui.blogspot.com, features examples of her work and her blog.
