Theatre Lawrence has announced its lineup of shows for the 2014-2015 season. Early ticket sales begin May 1.
The first production of the season, starting on Sept. 19, is “Little Shop of Horrors,” by Alan Menken and Howard Ashman. It’s a 1950s off-Broadway spoof of science-fiction movies about a floral assistant who becomes famous after discovering a plant with a taste for fresh blood, later revealing itself as an alien creature bent on global domination.
The rest of the season includes: “Mary Poppins,” based off a book by Julian Fellowes, “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Mike,” by Christopher Durang, “Clybourne Park,” by Bruce Norris, “Explorer’s Club,” by Nell Benjamin and “South Pacific,” by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein.
In addition to the main stage shows, Theatre Lawrence will collaborate with the Native American Repertory Theatre and the Lawrence Opera Theatre in summer productions. It will also partner with Kansas University Theatre in spring 2015 with “Raisin in the Sun,” which inspired "Clybourne Park," running at the University Theatre.
