725 N. Second St.
When George Grieb bought Lynn Electric & Communications in 1999 from Chuck Lynn, who started the business in 1977, it was a small residential company whose services were largely confined to Douglas County.
In the last decade, business has boomed. Today, Grieb said the company’s 25 employees cover a 200-mile radius around Lawrence. “We cover northeast Kansas, basically,” Grieb said.
Grieb purchased the company after having worked there since 1991. Before then, he said, he came from Omaha, Neb., to attend Kansas University and never left.
The company’s size hasn’t affected its goal of remaining a true 24/7 emergency service company, Grieb said. The company maintains a 24-hour emergency service line at 843-LYNN(5966). “We answer the phone,” he said.
Lynn Electric & Communications provides both commercial and residential service that ranges from repairing light fixtures to providing upkeep for industrial machinery. Online, at lynnelectric.com, the business also provides the option of online payment and the ability to schedule electrical service.
