Don't let those sunny skies fool you. Today is the first day of a cold front that will have the high topping out at 38 degrees — quite a switch from our recent 60-degree days. The low will drop to 21 degrees overnight under clear skies. The temperatures will stay low all week — time to get out the mittens, hats and scarves!
It's Veterans Day, and many government offices, area agencies and businesses will be closed. Among them:
- Douglas County District Court
- Post offices
- State and federal offices
- Lawrence Meals on Wheels
If you have a question about whether a business or agency is operating, call first to confirm.
The American Legion Hall will be observing Veterans Day by placing flags around the hall starting at 7 a.m. There will be a Veterans Day Celebration at 11 a.m. with a reading of work by George Washington. Doors open at 10 a.m., and there will be light refreshments The American Legion Hall is at 3408 W. Sixth St.
