Creeping up

The numbers outside just keep going up, slowly and steadily. Today's high will be about 44 degrees, with an overnight low of 23. With light breezes and sunny skies, the day is forecast to feel like a spring day compared to the brutally cold temperatures we've experienced lately. And hey, at least we're not buried under 6 feet of snow like those poor folks in the Great Lakes!

Marriage equality discussion

There are a lot of questions that come with an inundation of news about marriage equality and the courts. The Lawrence League of Women Voters is hosting a Brown Bag on “Marriage Equality: What Recent Court Decisions Mean for Douglas County” at 11:30 a.m. at Watkins Community Museum, 1047 Massachusetts St. Bring your lunch, but more importantly — bring your questions and your insight!

Laugh for a cure

Heard of the new student organization on campus? It's called KU Hilarity for Charity, and the group's mission is to raise awareness of Alzheimer's Disease as well as raise funds for a cure. Hilarity for Charity's first big fundraiser, a variety show featuring local talent in music and comedy, is at 7 p.m. at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St. Tickets are $5 and all of those proceeds go to the Alzheimer's Association. Join in the hilarity for a good cause!
