"The reality is that probably more people want historic-looking buildings than they want contemporary. People want things that are warm and fuzzy." - Lawrence architect Dan Sabatini, whose firm designed the Hobbs Taylor Lofts (above). For many in town, the faux historic exterior reflects a regrettable trend in Lawrence architecture - mimicking past styles and rejecting progressive designs. Sabatini's firm also designed the more contemporary-styled firestation near 19th and Harper streets (below).
