"All of the 'historic districts' - which includes Mass. St. - are an attempt to try and maintain the status quo. I don't see maintaining the status quo as a direction that any town should endorse. Certainly our downtown, I think, could become a rich and vibrant downtown with contemporary architecture complementing it, not attempting to reproduce the past." - KU architecture professor Dan Rockhill. His firm, Rockhill and Associates, is currently working on an addition/renovation of the Van Go building at Seventh and New Jersey streets (above).
