Arrogant Staff and inconsistant quality
The service at Bichelemeyers fluctuates. I have enjoyed many a fine meals at Bichelemeyers. However, I haven't not returned in over a year. The last time we ate at Bichelemeyers our service and food was infuriating. My "Medium well" steak was so charred it was inedible. When I asked the waiter to exchange the steak for one edible, I was refused. I refused to pay my portion of the meal since I did not eat it. A silly scene was created by the waiter and cook. I was so embarrased that I paid the bill and never returned.
I love Bichelemeyers steaks they are the best as well as the free entertainment!! Plus in Leavenworth County you can smoke unlike Lawrence...................
steaks are good, and well prepared. the chicken and burgers are over cooked and tough. if wanting a steak, worth a try.
My family & I have enjoyed dining at Bichelmeyer's several times. The food is excellent, especially their prime rib & steaks. Service is friendly, quick, and family-oriented.
Bichelmeyer's is definately worth the drive to Tonganixie.
Of all the years I have heard of this restaurant we decided to try it.
We drove over to it and found it.
They had a special on. Barbequed ribs.
We ordered the special from a nice waiter. The meal came and the ribs were dried out and old and inedible.
We called the waiters attention to the problem and he acted incredulous. He took the plates back to the kitchen. The chef couldn't believe our audacity. They asked what we wanted instead. I asked for a Hamburger Steat cooked Medium Rare. The waiter commented that this was how he liked his meat.
The meal was returned. The Hamburger steak was thinner than a McDonald hamburger and cooked beyond shoe leather. At this point I questioned the chef's ability. The waiter took it back but brought it back saying the chef wouldn't do anything further. He brought the check and said the chef insisted that it be paid for. Which I did including a tip for the waiter.
I don't know if the owners know that this is how customers are handled or if the chef was the owner but I hope no one tries this place as it is a terrible restaurant.
The kitchen is always open during business hours.
