I kind of resent the connection to McDonald's, Taco Bell, and Fazoli's. (I think India Palace is more akin to McDonald's than Curry in a Hurry is.) As an Indian American, I grew up on Indian food. This place has excellent food. It has the best tandoori chicken I've had in my entire life. Sammi and his wife are super kind. There is always chai or mango lassi to drink.
So much better than India Palace, and so much a better deal. Though I know not logistically suited to the concept of the place, I would like to see more south Indian dishes and perhaps an occasional biryani. Aside from that, if you don't like the food here, then you really don't like Indian food.
That curry looks rockin'.
I've been waiting quite a while for a place like this downtown. The food is awesome and reasonably priced. The samosas are probably the best I've had. Not to mention the fact that aside from the sodas and candy mentioned previously, they also sell cigarettes at a price more reasonable than the bars. The owners are always friendly and fantastic.
It should also be mentioned that they are now open until 2 am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The food is delicious and their convenience side is something downtown's been needing. Every time I've gone in I've gotten a hearty meal, fast and hassle free. You go in, you grab your tubs of food,a candy bar or soda, you pay at the counter, you're done. I like to take my meal over to the zen garden for a picnic.
They have samosas (think a pyramid shaped eggroll full of seasoned mash potatoes and peas), something I can't remember the name of (a ufo shaped eggroll full of spicy lentil powder),
two entrees that vary daily (one meat, one vegetarian),
