Since Fatso’s installed a stage a couple years ago, Fatso’s has become one of Lawrence’s most dependable venues for solid music — including the local music showcase “School Night,” which features a rare reasonable hour start time (7p.m. on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month). Other amenities include multiple TVs, darts, a heated back porch, $2 Pyramid Pizza slices and nearly 100 different bottled beers.
The venue is reminiscent of a room that once hosted Bo Diddley. Acts in 2005 included Oteil Burbridge (Allman Brothers), Lotus, the Fareed Haque Group (Garaj Mahal), Gooding, Big Metal Rooster, The Brody Buster Band, and Tanner Walle. Drop-ins included Phish's Mike Gordon and legendary bassist Victor Wooten.
Pyramid Pizza's reasonably priced slices are available within the bar and through the front service window.
