Sean, I used to work at Henry T's from about 2002-2004 and was in the commercial we made then. It was the "what, I didn't drink your beer" one and was wondering if you still had a copy of that or if I could find one...please let me know.

Thanks

I like Henry T's. Better than Jefferson's, and that's saying something. The service is usually pretty good. I haven't experienced the problems some others here complain of. Recently the food has been questionable, however. The mashed potatoes taste funny. The fries are mushy. The bacon on my KC Masterpiece burger is rarely crispy (which I ask for specifically, because I can't stand limp bacon). Maybe it's just a slump...Get it together, guys!(PS- Half-price burger night is still awesome)

First off, I think Henry T's rulezzz and I've been a huge fan for a while. It is easily my favorite Sport Bar in Lawrence. The atmosphere is great; dimly lit, classic bar styling (very 70's) and good (enough) service. Plus, they have plenty of sweet TV's w/ the NFL Pass (I think). What more do dudes need? Did I mention that they also have the best wings in Lawrence? They do, they're so damn tasty, but in close running w/ Jefferson's wings. So, WHERE DO THEY GET OFF CHARGING $9 FOR A DOZEN WINGS?!? Are these magical chickens? Are they hunted in Belize and smuggled into the US thru Mexico??? What gives? I was deeply saddened to hear that their prices went up and now I am forced to make a difficult decision; fork over an exorbitant amount of $$$ for wings, or turn my back on my favorite sports bar ('cus I ain't gonna start ordering a salad). WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS TO ME, HENRY T???

So . . . I see that no one has commented on Henry T's for a couple of years. Back then I would have whole-heartedly agreed - awesome burgers, the best wait staff, Allen Fieldhouse West . . .

Well . . .

I don't know all the details about what's going on with Henry T's but I do know One Thing and that One Thing is,

I want my old Henry T's back.

My wife and I have never been ones to complain at the slightest annoyance. We suffer along with everyone else, the little foibles that simply prove that waitresses and cooks and all are simply human like everyone else. We do not have out noses up in the air . . . we are people too.

We also normally tip 20% - I just wanted you to know that we are not cheap-arses. In short, I like to think that we are the customers that the staff at Henry T's would WANT to have.

But this current situation is RIDICULOUS!

Tonight makes three visits in a row where we have experienced MAJOR problems . . . in addition to those normal little problems that we typically are happy to overlook.

What ever happened to the vastly experienced, kind, caring wait staff that was there for years and years? Did new owners take over in 2007 and cut the base pay, thereby losing the valuable services of a seasoned crew? We can only guess.

Three weeks ago, we were there on a Saturday afternoon and the KU game wasn't on any of the TVs that we could see . . . and many of the customers there were wearing their KU shirts. Why no one asked to turn on the game, I have no idea, but it certainly wasn't on the mind of Henry T's staff.

Our waitress that day gave us the impression that we were annoying her with our business . . . but wait . . . OK - I could go into all kinds of exacting details as to what happened when and all that . . . but here's the bottom line;

SOMETHING has changed at Henry T's and it has NOT been a change for the better. I don't know what it is. IF it's new owners, they need to take a lesson from the old owners. My wife is ready to just give up on Henry T's and never go there again.

I would like to think that Henry T's can still make some corrections, return things to the way they were and retain their place as the choice of the neighborhood and much of the city for our favorite bar and grill. My family and our friends have spent THOUSANDS of dollars there over the last couple of decades or so AND we would have been happy to continue to do so. Now, it's not such a sure thing. Now Henry T's is going to have to win our business back.

A note to Henry T's management - just remember - chasing profit at all costs is usually a disastrous way to run a business in the long term because it often costs you your customers. And without customers . . . what fun is a business?

I only go there to see at the bar, I think the waitress act as if they are better than everyone, especially the one with short brown hair, she is awful!

Best service, coldest beer, most friendly people and tasty fare. What the hell else could a person want - oh yea, and more HD TVs to shake a stick at with whatever you want to watch sportwise. I love the fish tacos - don't get rid of them! My wife and I visit your fine establishment at least twice a week - Keep up the good work Sean!

I go on Thurs. buck night. Everything is awesome. Service is slow, but man, it is packed though.

I love the place. You just need to get ESPN Deportes so that I can watch the Champions League. It's a must!

badbrainstorm 16 years, 2 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

Besides the occasional overcooked medium rare burger, hands down the juiciest, tastiest burger in town!!! Try the pepper jack style burger. The jalepeño mayonnaise is the shiznit!!! Really good fries also. Go for the food, not the service!

betsy 16 years, 3 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

I am a HUGE fan of Henry T's. Everything I have ordered there is delicious--and that's a hard thing for any resaurant. The burgers, chicken strips, enormous nachos, baked potatoes, mac and cheese, grilled chicken salads--all good!

The service is friendly, knowledgable, and prompt, even when they are swamped.

I highly recommend going to Henry T's. I do, as often as possible, even though I live at the opposite corner of town.

p.s. I only put vibe 1 slot down because I'm not a sports fan...but that's not their fault. :)

borgeld 16 years, 3 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

i love henry t's! good food, good tv, good people. the wait staff, particularly the dimpled one with the brown hair and a frequent case of the giggles, is my favorite in lawrence. see you on game day!

tullyc 16 years, 6 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

I love the food here, and the specials are great. But please, for the love of Mary, hire a couple more waitresses. And for crying out loud, if you say your special begins at 9 p.m. and it says 9 p.m. on the clock inside the restaurant, you'd better not be telling me I have to wait another 20 minutes because it's "bar time," especially if you're going to throw me out at 1:40 a.m., saying it's 2 a.m. Waitresses are not being tipped well becaue of mismanagement. And the consistently flat beer isn't helping either.

van_wilson 16 years, 9 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

We live in Florida now, but when my wife was at KU, we went there every time I came to town. Their wings are still my all-time, HOF favorite wings. I pine for these wings. Best wings, best waffle fries EVER. Go during a KU b'ball game for the best experience. You'll be hooked either way.

bizetsy 17 years, 3 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

I am a BIG fan of Henry T's. Every food item I have tried there has been delicious and well priced. The waitresses have all been friendly. It's worth the trip across town from where I live!

I just wanted to say... I LOVE Henry T's. Its one of my absolute favorite places to go here in Lawrence.

I do admit though, sometimes the service is a little lagged.. but Im never in a rush, so it has never really bothered me.

I reccommend T's to almost everyone I talk to. And Im also addicted to the key lime martinis!

I am absolutely shocked and mortified as well. We've spent the last 4 months hiring new and re-training the old. We have invested a considerable amount of time and money to make our servers better. We've had dozens of positive comments from customers since. That said, occasionally a fly does end up in someone's soup. And when that happens, always ask for the manager. I would like powerPuff04 to call me directly. I work 5 days a week. Just ask for sean.

PowrPuff04 17 years, 4 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

A couple of weeks ago I went to T's and waited 30 minutes before a waitress even came to our table. Mind you, my sister had arrived about 20 minutes prior to me and she was never waited on either; therefore she waited for almost an hour before being served. When the waitress finally did come to the table she brought our food and beverages and never came back. We had more people arrive at our table and she never waited on them, they had to go to the bar to get their drinks. We watched as she waited on the tables next to us and gave them damn near excellent service. This is absolutely unacceptable. Never in my life have I had such a horrific experience at an eating establishment or any establishment for that matter. I am absolutely mortified that we were treated this way. I will not go back there, and will not recommend it to anyone.

rooster82 17 years, 8 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

We go eat there on a weekly basis. I really enjoy the atmosphere and the food is always wonderful! The service was pretty bad a few times we went but its been getting better! I will definitely continue to go there to enjoy an ice cold beer and a great burger!

MACFX 17 years, 8 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

I've been to Henry T's on several occasions and I have consistently come away satisfied with the experience. With kids or without, the staff has always been extremely accomodating. Even on the busiest occasions my next beer is there before I finished my last swallow of the previous one.

I can't afford to go out a lot, so I have to be particular about where I spend my time and money. The food is great, the beer is cold, prices are reasonable, the staff is friendly and there are plenty of great TV's to watch the game. What more do you want.

smylop 17 years, 8 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

We have been coming to Henry T's since they reopened about nine years ago. I can think of no better place to spend an evening whether with or without my four sons. When we come without our children it feels like the sports bar it was intended to be. With the kids it feels like a family restaurant. It really is, as stated above - like Cheers. Great food! We can always find something new to try. Outstanding service! I am always especially grateful for the waitstaff's treatment of my children. They make my boys feel as welcome as we adults are. It's probably why we hang around and, consequently, buy more drinks. :-) We love it!

peter brady 17 years, 8 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

Thanks for the comment. Fewer and fewer people are willing to ask for the manager while they are in an establishment. I'm not sure why that is, but it doesn't matter. I will attempt to correct the quality of service immediately. Thanks again, Sean.

Cool bar. However, the service at Henry T's is among the worst in Lawrence. I've been there twice, both times to eat, and the waitresses were so f*in' lazy. For example, my friends and I were one of 3 tables in the bar with two servers on staff, and we waited approx. 5 min to get a drink order... not to mention how long it took to take our food order. Now, I'm a server myself so I know how the job works and I will guarantee you won't find a staff less attentive than the girls who work at Henry T's. The food is not bad, but definately not worth the hastle of dealing with the staff. I highly recommend Free State Brewery, Old Chicago, Set Em Up Jacks, or Jeffersons for all of those new to Lawrence.

The buttermilk garlic chicken sandwich is amazing. The wings are probably the best in town!

wow...i guess i'm the cheap bastard....problem solved. just installed a dlp hd projector. it looks pretty damn good. hope to see you guys soon. thanks, sean.

Snoop 18 years, 2 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

I have got to ditto what Sparanzo said about the piece of crap projection system. Don't get me wrong, the place is fine in all aspects. But whatever genius is responsible for having that out of date piece of crap contraption STILL in the bar needs to have his ass kicked. Hello moron, there are projectors out there that can fit in the palm of your hand for a fraction of the cost just two years ago. Damm, Don't be such a cheap bastard.

sparanzo 18 years, 10 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

I am a frequent visitor to Henry T's and I have still yet to figure out why they keep that enormous projection t.v. That t.v. is absolutely worthless, you can never see the bottom of the screen because people are always in your way. They should take it out and put about 3 regular sized big screen t.v.'s in its place.

I102bL8 19 years, 1 month ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

T's is a place that you can relax and have fun! Great food, good service, it's one of those Cheers bars.....you feel at home when you walk in. If your up for a layed back time this is the place to be!!

leechynut 19 years, 8 months ago on Henry T's Bar & Grill

Not only does Henry T's have outstanding food and bverages, the service is wonderful as well. I've been a long time customer of their's and plan on continuing the tradition for as long as I can. T's is the perfect place for those of us in our late 20's who feel to old for the "club" scene, but aren't quite ready to take off our party hats.
