About this place
A quirky drink and Indonesian food joint, Indo (formerly Pochi Tea Station) piques your appetite and your imagination. Choosing the drink is only the beginning: choosing what goes at the bottom is the real challenge. The atmosphere is like no other: neon-green walls, Asian music videos, and plenty of board games to choose from. Also features the best and biggest Peanut Butter and Banana sandwich you'll find for $3.

I couldn't agree with Nathan more on his comments. I love Indo. In fact, I'd probably say that it's my favorite restaurant in Lawrence. The only problem is that they are rarely open when I try to go there, even if it's within their posted business hours. I had a friend visiting for a week, and we tried to go eat there three times, but to no avail. I would be devastated if Indo were to close. I hope that they can get this problem solved.Other than the fact that I can't eat there when I try to, Indo is amazing. Fun atmosphere, interesting and delicious food, tasty drinks and desserts...what is there not to love?

If there was a rating for consistent hours it would be a 1. I live across the street and constantly see people trying to go to Indo but realizing it's closed. I love the food but never know when it's open.

Steadily becoming less and less what I have loved... went last night and my once-favorite Nasi Kusing now has plain white rice, not the moist, fragrant lemongrass rice.
The sauce, pickle, tofu, and tempeh portions have continued to shrink geometrically, so we ended up with half a plate of dry rice and peanuts after rationing out the pieces of tofu and trying to scrape up the last bits of moisture.
If I am not going to get them again, the only way to get over how delicious mom's recipes were may be to stop going. However, if you never went to Pochi before the ownership change, you might be perfectly happy with the food... I think I will give it one more shot and ask for extra of everything but the rice.
At least they do have a few vegetarian and vegan options, and it is locally owned!

I've been twice and enjoyed the food both times.
The waitstaff were very helpful as I had not tried Indonesian food before.
I think that the best way to review is to go item by item:
On my first visit I had the (206) Nasi Uduk.
Fried chicken - Moist and flavorful with a thin, salty skin. (10 of 10)
Chicken satay - Rich sweet sauce. Slightly small portion. (9 of 10)
Fried tofu - Thin salty sauce with a chewy texture. Small portion. (7 of 10)
Fried egg - Sweet sauce but with a rubbery texture. (5 of 10)
Rice (Menu offers coconut rice but they were out so I had white.) - Wonderful texture, sticky but not gluey. Little or no crust from sitting in open air. (10 of 10)
On my second visit I had the (215) Roast Pork Rice
Roast pork - Moist and tasty but with more bone than meat. (6 of 10)
Fried chicken - see above review
Garlic chicken - Nice spicy sauce but meat was dry and chewy. (3 of 10)
Hard boiled egg - Soaked in sauce than quartered. (7 of 10)
White rice (menu says with chicken broth but none was given) - see above

I had the Nasi Uduk on steamed rice (instead of coconut rice), with milky Barley bubble tea.
I decided to rate everything item by item.
fried chicken - tender meat, thin & salty coating, 8 of 10
chicken satay - 2 spears, juicy meat, fabulous sauce, 9 of 10
fried tofu - kinda small, spongy texture, good sauce, 7 of 10
fried egg - slightly overcooked, not my favorite, 4 of 10
rice - soft, sticky, no dry grains or "scabs", 9 of 10
tea - good size, sweet but not cloying, light flavor, nice chew, 8 of 10
service - friendly staff, no long wait, clean & inviting atmosphere

Pochi Tea Station has been my favorite restaurant in Lawrence since the day it opened. I am so sad to say that they seemed to have stopped putting tofu in the recipes, as all the vegan dishes I love are mysteriously missing those big triangles of juicy tofu that mom was so generous with. The potatoes in the kari (aka curry) are missing as well, leaving the entrees as large, expensive sides of rice, a few veggies, and sauce. Saya tidak mengerti!! Let us know if anyone spots the tofu truck delivering so we can go back! Otherwise I will be in my kitchen, trying to conjure the magical flavor of the Pochi kari sauce.
