Best cheesesteak this side of Philadelphia. No kidding. I can't speak to the other sandwiches because in my mind, an average cheesesteak trumps prime rib, so why try anything else?
The staff is friendly (and generally remembers my name, which is, I'll admit, a bit unnerving at times), and the inside is clean and comfortable. Only "complaint" I have is that their hours don't fit with my dietary schedule as well as I'd like, but I suppose it's unreasonable for me to want a cheesesteak at 8am (or, more frequently, 1am).

I really appreciate the comments - both positive and negative. It helps us know what we're doing right, and where we need to improve. As most of you know, our selection is tremendous consisting of more than 27 sub sandwiches and wraps anywhere from the Original Italian to the Philly Cheese Steak. Keep in mind that we can make any sub into a wrap, and any wrap into a sub, making that 54 options!Getting to the point of this message, we have now added gluten-free bread and vegan turkey to our menu. This is new to Jersey Mike's, so at this point it is just a trial; please keep this in mind - you can even call ahead to make sure we have the ingredients in stock. It's hit or miss, so we may sell more than expected and run out, but we will do our best to make sure that we keep the bread & turkey stocked so individuals with dietary restrictions can enjoy sub sandwiches.LilMissy - if you would like to let me know what makes the previous selection of 27 subs/wraps (without the gluten-free & vegan options) poor, I would appreciate it. This way, if corporate allows us, I will make changes.Thank you everyone for your loyalty,Jamie

Poor selection, not the best subs in town

update:
i have received two friendly e-mails, one from an employee and one from the owner explaining their process. The bread is baked fresh daily and the "trash can" is a waste bin only to be used for what falls off the subs during assembly. Definitely committed to quality.

I usually try a different pizza place on Friday night's, but I got hit by a craving for a classic Italian sub. I first thought of Jimmy John's, which I have had good sub's at in the past, but remembered that Jersey Mike's had come to town and thought to give them a try. I had seen that they were considered some of the best sandwiches in local searches of other cities. First, they slice their meats/cured meats to order. Very important. No other deli in Lawrence does this (as far as I know) in front of you. Their bread comes white or wheat but I wasn't sure how fresh it was, because it was lying out behind the prep station ready for assembly. I do know that they have the best sub (I have had) in town. The price??? I would say I got what I payed for, 7+ with chips. Only knock I have, the trash can was brought up to the line to dispose of waste. There must be a better way of getting rid of left-overs than bringing the trash can to the process. Overall, you want a real sub, go.

Subs that can't be beat. Especially good are the Philly cheese steaks. Also their #13, a true Jersey sub in terms of piles of meat and great taste.
