Located across the river in serene North Lawrence, La Tropicana boasts one of the best patios in town, as well as tasty Mexican food to eat on that patio. Though it's pricier than its competition and (gasp!) chips and salsa are not free, it's still worthy of your dining rotation.
Since 1962 four generations the Del Campo family have worked together on everything from preparing food and waiting tables to washing dishes. Besides the standard fare, La Tropicana offers daily specials, fresh guacamole, and margaritas that are well-known around town. They even sell fantastic homemade tamales by the dozen during the holidays. Catering is available at 749-3550.

Johnny's is a favorite of people who know Lawrence well. Friendly staff with some of the best pizza in town combine for a good rating. If you havent tried it out grab a beer and pizza with some friends just north of the river.

Johnny's is the best. I love going to Johnny's for lunch to meet up with pals and enjoy one of their famous burgers. The service is great; if you are looking for a good vibe, good eats and to have some time to hang out with friends, Johnny's is the place to go. It's just the best.

Johnny's is a great place to go for a good burger and drink. This is the kind of place you go with a great friend, who you can oink out with and eat, snort, laugh, etc. The food is really good, the portions are good, they wait staff leave you alone, it's just a great place for lunch. It's quick, too. This is a special place to go for lunch if you 1) want to be comfortable and want to be able to hear your friend talk and 2) want to fill your gut with good, solid food. This is not a hipster kind of place. This is a solid, great place for lunch.
