Description

If you crave for the "itis," that pleasant euphoria following way too much amazing food, this new joint is where it's at. As the names suggests, this is TEXAS-style 'cue-the flavor's in the rub and the white oak-smoking, not drowning in the sauce. It's less sweet and more savory, sometimes spicy. And more than anything it's just dang good.

DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT TRYING AT LEAST ONE RIB-we won't even attempt a description here (can one describe heaven??) And everyone should have the pinto beans-their flavor is one-of-kind (and award-winning from what we hear). The vinegar-based slaw is the way it outta be, and offerings like fried okra, green beans, baked beans, potato salad, and fries should please the whole fam.

A group of 10 KU alums are behind the project that's bringing a competing style to our BBQ mecca.

This BBQ joint is brand new in spring 2008 in the old Don's Steakhouse building.

Best BBQ in town, hands down. Even as a die hard Gates fanatic, I must say Lone Steer's brisket is superior. The fries aren't great, but the beans and potato salad are delicious.
