This place used to be cozy, warm and wonderful. Now it's cold, empty and eerie. What happened? The food is OK, but the slow service (even when it's deserted, which is every time I've gone for lunch and dinner this year) makes sure that you are irritable and unforgiving by the time the food arrives. Everyone SEEMS helpful and nice, but things just don't seem in synch at the Old Paradise these days. Someone please rescue this before it disappears!!!!!!!

We ate there yesterday. This used to be one of my favorite resturants. Fewer selections, bad service and a rude hostess made me decide not to go back. Not very busy yet chaotic in appearance. Miltons or First Watch are much better.

The paradise cafe is an exciting place to eat. I particularly enjoy trying "new" tastes there. The service is always professional. The menu while a little on the pricey side has never failed to delight. The ownership has a big resposibility to maintain the pleasant atmospere during the current renovation... I can't wait for the reopening!

Recently, (August 2003) I had breakfast there on a busy Saturday with a job candidate from overseas who was in town for one day. Our table of five waited a full 45 minutes after we sat down for cold toast and eggs to appear. The entire restaurant turned over during that period. I had a similar experience earlier in 2003, the quality of service has declined at Paradise, the experience and competence of the waitstaff seem lacking. The prices are not cheap. I really can't imagine going back with the other eatery choices in Lawrence, Milton's just blows Paradise away for breakfasat.

I used to look forward to Saturday mornings at Paradise, the food was always okay, (although the breakfast potatoes were quite variable); it was the staff and the other customers that gave it that Lawrence feel. Now the boohts are worn out and so is the welcome. I still go occasionally, just to torture my friend from Western Kansaas who freaks out when they serve hashbrowns with peas and sour cream.

Paradise used to be one of my favorite places to eat. My boyfriend ate there two or three times a week. We have both agreed that the food, the service and the overall quality of the dining experience has tanked. It is such a shame to see one of the coolest restaurants in town turn bad. Their food comes half cooked and swimming in butter or oil. Sandwiches regularly arrive at your table incomplete and cold. To boot, you have to wait forever to even get the food. I don't know if this is the result of a new owner or a new chef but it's crap. It will be quite a while before I will return to Paradise.
