About this place
One of the most legendary bars in town and home to the best juke box on the planet (not to mention some of the yummiest freshly mixed drinks in the state of Kansas). A two-level establishment with free pool upstairs until 9pm. The regular crowd are very hospitable and the bar tenders know their stuff. Reputable manger, one Sir Jeremy Sidener, is regarded by many as the best bass player around (Zoom, Panel Donor, Arthur Dodge & the Horsefeathers, Danny Pound). With over 12 years experience on the 'scene' and a stash of vinyl treasures behind the counter, he and his fellow Tap Room folk can both inform and entertain.

Fuck what you heard - The Eighth Street Taproom is one of the better bars in Lawrence. There is usually good music being played upstairs or in the basement. And a lot of the bartenders for the most part are pretty nice. I love the atmosphere, and especially the red lights.

This place is a dive and smells so bad. The drink specials are horrible and you should do all you can to avoid this place...it is nasty. When they have bands downstairs they jack the price of drinks up...and it is so small you can barely move. They have crappy talent through there all the time. There is no smoking deck so everyone huddles around exit door tries to smoke. It is unsafe for sure. The place is a Fire HAZARD!!!
