Description
A favorite of visiting alumni, The Sandbar has a penchant for Songs You Know By Heart and other tropical tunes. It's a cozy cabina both in space and spirit. Sip a margarita next to their huge tanks of exotic fish. Get down up on the bar. Or max with a smile. The Sandbar is as free-spirited as a sailboat.
Every night around 10 catch the only indoor hurricane in the world-a full-scale special effects production complete with driving wind and rain.
Free snacks every Friday at 5 p.m. (until they're gone). Typically they're finger-friendly items like meatballs or nachos, but they change every week.

A bar where an old-timer like myself can feel comfortable. A great place for Parrot Heads of all ages to gather.

Discovered an awesome ginger ale at the Merc a couple weeks ago that can be used to make some really tasty drinks that you guys should feature. Here's a few recipes I dug up with that have Jamaican twist. Hope someone can make one of these the next time I decide to dance on the bar (thanks for the memories) or when chillin' in a hurricane.
Dark and Stormy
2 ounces Rum (Light) over ice
4 ounces Reed's ginger brew
Squeeze of lime
Pour rum over ice in an old-fashioned glass and fill with Reed's ginger brew.
Mexican Mule
1.5 oz gold tequila over ice
4.0 oz Reed's extra ginger brew
Squeeze of lime
Mix in a rock's glass.
Moscow Mule
2 ounces Vodka over ice
8 ounces Reed's ginger brew
Squeeze of lime
Mix all ingredients in highball glass with ice.

easily my favorite Lawrence bar. Its good to be able to go to a bar where you aren't stuck hearing the same nightclub music.
Drink specials are really good and the fish there is totally awesome.

Speaking from experience, the Sandbar is by far the best bar in Lawrence. Being able to shake it on the bar is one of the best parts and the music is great to sing along to. If you decide to visit, you must try a dirty banana shot, they're tasty!

All I have to say about the Sandbar is..
"What happens there, stays there" and there is definetly some fine mermaids wiggelin that tail.
Overall, this place is- a catch of the day.

It has to be one of the best bars in Lawrence.
Since people are too uptight to do anything like dance on tables in Kansas City, it was cool and refreshing to see a place a place where people come to let their hair down.
Forget Disneyland, this is the happiest place of Earth!!
