Lu Vacarro has made art for more than half a century. She originally moved to Lawrence in the 1960s with her late husband, Nick Vacarro, to jumpstart the art department at Kansas University. Vaccaro says everything comes from a happy place and her work exudes that happiness. That spirit can be found in her latest show, "Past & Present: Pots & Paintings," which will enjoy an opening reception that runs from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at The Lawrence Percolator, Ninth and New Hampshire streets. Vacarro reveals her secret to staying young and making memorable work in the latest A.D.D. podcast.
