Rev. Peter Luckey offers a meditation on the musical offering from Handel's Messiah. As Luckey elaborates, the word 'compassion' comes from two Latin root words meaning "with" and "suffering"; Christ's crucifixion is proof that our God is willing to suffer with us so that out of suffering we might have new life; for Jesus' example shows us that equality with God is not our goal, but rather we should become servants to all.
