Growing up queer in a small town can be a difficult experience. As a budding gay youth in Hays, Kansas, during the '90s, it was difficult to find people I could relate to, let alone role models. That is, until I ran across a CD that would change the way I thought of my music, and what was possible if you had enough balls to be who you are. That CD was “Pile Up” by San Francisco’s openly queer pop-punk geniuses Pansy Division, and I had never heard anything like it before. I'm guest host Lawrence singer/songwriter Charles S. McVey and I interviewed Pansy Division’s front man and founder, Jon Ginoli, to preview the band's show in Lawrence. Produced by Phil Cauthon.
