Two years ago, Lawrence singer/songwriter Tanner Walle fled the cozy confines of the Jazzhaus for a fresh start in New York City. While he’s yet to play ball with Jay-Z or headline Madison Square Garden, Walle is sinking his teeth into the NYC music scene with a band that includes fellow Larryville expats Mike Cibura and Justin Hosek. The trio performs frequently on the Lower East Side and beyond, winning over fans with melodic pop-folk music and blue-blooded Jayhawk competitiveness. Walle is returning to Lawrence this week to record some new songs and perform two shows on Thursday night (7 p.m. at the Granada and 10 p.m. at the Jazzhaus). He joined us at the start of his busy week to discuss life in the big city and share some new tunes.
