Recently closed. Staff also owns Panda Garden. My favorite Chinese in town!

I really loved the service here. The server I had was really friendly and made sure I had what I needed (e.g. napkins, water refill.) I went during the evening hours and ordered the "Volcano" which was a stir-fry of veggies, shrimp, chicken, and beef. The shrimp were incredible in that they were plump and delicious. I liked the how the veggies weren't overcooked and fresh, with the exception of the baby corn which is hard to find fresh here in the Midwest. It was one huge plate of stir-fry. I only received one rice bowl with rice and feared they'd charge extra if I ordered more rice. So my advice to you is to ask if extra rice is free! The whole meal costs about $12, which is a bit expensive but maybe worth it because the quantity and quality is seemingly good. The bad thing about the place was that the floor/carpet was a bit dirty. That can drive some of us insane; it did disgust me to be honest. Overall, the food is not bad, the service is great (I don't know about right now), and the environment is pretty nice. Not a bunch of drunken loud dumb college students--mainly from sororities or frats--which is a blessing from the gods.

The absolute best Chinese restaurant in Lawrence.Well, at least the best Sesame Chicken...and crab rangoon...I don't know, it's one of those places where I'm so blown away by their mastery of a particular dish I don't really get anything else. It's also the same place as Panda Garden. Convenient! Also nice people work there.

I am from China and it is the only typical Chinese food provider I found in Lawrence so far. I didn't try the buffet, but the dishes I ordered is very good. I don't know if you will love it as it's not American-Chinese food, and the menu I used is in Mandarin. Anyway you can try real Chinese food if you want there

Probably the best buffet in town...get their early...11:30am...otherwise you are fighting over the scraps. Their food is very good...they have the occasional off day...they have better consistency than many other lawrence establishments. You can expect to get a good meal.

One downside...don't order the Thai food here. Their specialty is in Chinese cooking...but out of curiosity I checked it out one night and it barely resembled Thai food.

I have been going to the Plum Tree for years! The owner knows my children and has invited them to tour the kitchen, given them free ice cream, and made them feel special. The servers know my voice when I call for pickup. The food is always excellent!

Sometimes you just don't want to go to Jade and want a date-type oriental place. Plum Tree has EXCELLENT quality entrees with a very kind staff. The atmosphere is nice and inviting, especially since they tore down that shack next door.

Recommended!
