About this place

Don't let the Harleys out front fool you - Johnny's is no back-alley biker's bar. This five-decade-old north Lawrence institution is just as likely to attract post-wedding parties as post-softball parties; come as you are or dress to impress. Johnny's grills up some the biggest and most creative burgers in town - toppings include everything from fried eggs to onion rings to Chipotle cream cheese - and taps into a diverse palette of domestics, imports and microbrews (favorites include Fat Tire, Boulevard and 1554). Though Johnny's has no shortage of colorful happenings, the real craziness happens upstairs at The Up & Under, which is available for private parties.

Pizzas served late (after kitchen hours) on weekends. Breakfast served on Saturdays.

Cajun night is on the first and third Wednesday of every month at 6PM with live bluegrass and cajun music from Billy Spears and the Beer Bellies. The menu features boiled shrimp, crayfish, gumbo, gator bites and other cajun specialties

Every other Monday is blues night with the Brody Buster Band. Tuesdays are Poker Pub nights (free to enter). DJs every Wednesday and Friday night starting at 10 p.m.

Johnny's is a favorite of people who know Lawrence well. Friendly staff with some of the best pizza in town combine for a good rating. If you havent tried it out grab a beer and pizza with some friends just north of the river.

Excellent burgers and sodas. Best in Lawrence. The owner was friendly but the wait staff was a bit flighty, forgetting drink refills and the check. The place could also be a bit cleaner.

Finally, some REAL - GOOD - THIN CRUST PIZZA in Lawrence. I felt like I was in New York City, especially since Johnny's is 52 years old. It feels homey and friendly inside with great food and service. You can feel what Lawrence is made of when you dine with the locals and college crowd. Famous for their burgers which used to be served from the grill behind the bar and now, the best pizza in town. The cold beer on tap doesn't hurt either!

Johnny's is the best. I love going to Johnny's for lunch to meet up with pals and enjoy one of their famous burgers. The service is great; if you are looking for a good vibe, good eats and to have some time to hang out with friends, Johnny's is the place to go. It's just the best.

Johnny's is a great place to go for a good burger and drink. This is the kind of place you go with a great friend, who you can oink out with and eat, snort, laugh, etc. The food is really good, the portions are good, they wait staff leave you alone, it's just a great place for lunch. It's quick, too. This is a special place to go for lunch if you 1) want to be comfortable and want to be able to hear your friend talk and 2) want to fill your gut with good, solid food. This is not a hipster kind of place. This is a solid, great place for lunch.

I moved to the area approx. 3 years ago and a buddy of mine took me to Johnny's to try a burger that he swore was like no other, his favorite in town. He was right in one aspect, no other sports bar in town maybe. My burger, what there was of it, was dry, thin, and had no taste. I had to check just to make sure that the pattie had not slipped off because all I could taste was the cheap toppings. Anyhoo, I have been back a couple of times in the last few years, but I won't order their burgers.

You get what you pay for here the food is typical bar food which is fine as long as you go in expecting that. I was just really disappointed at the service.

personally, i don't know anywhere else that has burgers like Johnny's. it is my favorite place to stop by for a cheeseburger. i like to go during the day so that the cigarette smoke isn't so thick though. waiters are nice too.

as often as I would like. The whole healthy eating thing keeps me away. But man are these burgers great. The best in the region. And Che and Kiwi behind the bar are always great at keeping my whistle wet.
