Liverpool / Chuck Mead and The Crumpletons

BR549 frontman Chuck Mead - who once worked at Liberty Hall - returns to Lawrence to set the Hall's stage for Beatles Tribute Act Liverpool. The roadworn Nashville troubadour also worked at Richard's Music during his years in The Homestead Grays. He enlists his friends The Crumpletons to back him up during his frequent soirees in Lawrence, playing a mix of covers and originals (pedal steel player Lynn Piller actually joined BR549 for a series of European shows). "Those guys were the hippie dudes who helped me develop my bad habits," Mead says. "Those guys could all get jobs down here if they moved to Nashville."
