Yeah, I may have spent more than an hour or two at the free rice site. I may have some problems. Unfortunately I ate as many rice servings tonight as I sent. :( Send me your forgiveness please! I am definitely not starving.
Oh, and it's called snow. We've had it for of, a couple of billenium now. Learn to drive/walk/bike/skate/slide/eat/sludge/whatever in it. Maybe you should do that rather than take in an awesome and awe-inspiring exhibit. Oh and I type better when I'm a bit tipsy. Is that a problem? Should I have my mechanic look under the hood at that?
Thanks all. Just so you know, I had an idea that was a basic photo tour of the museum set to some GarageBand music and gave it two of my student staff to put something together. They said it got a little out of hand and what you see is really all them (Dave Beals and Lindsay Ohse). It's Dave who is the tour guide. Stop in and let us know that you saw the video.
The museum had absolutely no hand in this one. A South Jr. High student did this one - presumably for a class project. Just stumbled across it. http://youtube.com/watch?v=u7ou1Df2PL4
It is good, Liz. And Ponderosa be damned, I want my 'maters! My wife and I kept saying that they needed to either put a Sweet Tomatoes at the old Furrs site or over where Mr. Gatti's used to be. However, I recently heard from a source that the old Furrs site has been tagged by CVS for a new pharmacy. Hell, a ST would be good anywhere in town especially as an added site for vegetarians or veggie-friendly people. If I'm not mistaken they mark their soups if they are vegetarian.
If we are going to mention retailers/restaurants that might come here if... Here's one: Sweet Tomatoes. How does Lawrence not have an upscale (or for that matter, a consistently decent) salad bar. T-Town had Souper Salad (a low-rent but still good version of the aforementioned) for awhile until it went under along with all the other Souper Salads in the Midwest save one in Wichita.
The closest ST is in OP but I think that Lawrence would support such a place. Their bar puts the salad bars at Hy-Vee, Dillon's, the Merc, Jason's Deli et al to shame, along with the soups and breads). If you haven't been out there, get thee to one post haste (just west of Pflumm on College Blvd). At $8 for an adult dinner it may seem pricey but there are coupons in the Star every other week and they are definitely worth it.
C'mon, if the greater St. Louis area can have four TJ's why can't we have one. There's a need in this region for one and putting in a TJ's here in Lawrence would pull people in from all over the Greater KC Area and beyond. I think that the Chamber of Commerce and the City Commission need to get behind this.
I agree 'Jilla, don't put in NWL. Hell, put the SOB in downtown. Santa Cruz, CA, has a Merc-ish, TJ-ish store in their downtown area and at 10:00 at night that place was a-hoppin'.
I agree edie_, there needs to be a grocery store (Price Chopper at the very least - no more Hy-Vee's or Dillon's) in East Lawrence. While there is Ghetto Dillon's in East Lawrence (kinda) I think they need to put one right offa K-10 and out just east of Prairie Park for the commuters, East Larryvillians and us Eudorkans. Across the street from Don's Steak House would be perfect. The one in Eudora friggin' sucks.
BTW, Liz I have no idea what the KS state laws are regarding grocery stores and them operating a likker section. I say forget the wine in the TJ and build a "Trader Joe's Wine Rack" right next door. Have it be a completely seperate entity from the TJ grocery store (unless that's a requirement for a TJ).
Gimme some Nutella and a bottle of Vinho do Porto and you have got yourself an exciting weekend! Am I right? Huh? My head kinda hurts. Why is the room spinning?
