Shelby, sorry, I meant "all of our lives" as a collective, as a country. I'm not sure what affects our lives more than the lawmakers, executors, and judges we elect who put in place and interpret the local and national laws we must abide by every day.
Gavon, I can only hope you're right. It makes plain sense to you and me, but somehow it seems the overall "quality of life via our thriving economy" message is *still* being muddled in the "we gotta get them terrorists in the Iraq" mentality for many people.

If only any of this actually mattered to the sheeple who will be turning out in full force to keep "the gays" from marrying, etc... The average McCain voter has no idea that Iraq and Afghanistan don't share a border, and he/she doesn't give a rat's ass that McCain doesn't know that either.
Though all the past week's happenings have made me tinkle a little with excitement, unfortunately there is still no voter intelligence test that people have to pass before they go into the booth to make the most important decisions of all of our lives.

Haha, my husband dresses as Waldo from Where's Waldo every Halloween for this exact purpose. I bet by now he's "ruined" the photos of at least 300 sorority girls by creepily lurking in the background with those coke bottle glasses.

Well, this is hitting home with me today. I just turned my two week's notice into my employer today to go back to school in the spring, and it killed me. I'm leaving a great place to work and taking a huge leap of faith in myself.
As a long-time lurker and seldom poster, I will certainly miss your blog, for whatever that's worth. Best of luck with your endeavor on the internets.

I did find this a bit disturbing, and yet, I was alarmingly indignant when I couldn't find the Jayhawks at first...

I read that she wants to be an entertainment reporter when she "grows up." I'd say she's well on her way.

While I certainly am not a Vick empathizer, I have to admit that Whitlock made a noteworthy point.
Recall a couple months ago the wrestler (Chris Benoit) that strangled his wife and kid then killed himself. How did the wrestling community choose to remember him? As a good wrestler that was the victim of testosterone. How did those outside the wrestling community choose to remember him? They didn't. He was all but forgotten in the MSM in a few days time. But, for god's sake, he killed PEOPLE, and the thing is, the public were not even as close to outraged at Benoit as they are toward Vick. Three questions:
1. Is this because Benoit was white? (I was half expecting Whitlock to set the tone for his column per Vick's race rather than to drag Imus' situation into it)
2. Is it because people really do feel more connected to cute furry animals they see instead of complete strangers?
3. Is it because Benoit took his own life, and people saw that as redemption for his crimes?
I don't have the answer, but I think Whitlock's reaction, whether right or wrong, wasn't completely inappropriate.

Maybe a bike, Joel? Or a moped? Either would get you where you wanted to be much more quickly on those wretched hot/cold days, and I hear you don't have to worry about getting helmet hair anymore with your new 'do.

The Pearl Street Pirate! Good to know he's still hanging in there.
The husband and I went rockclimbing in Boulder Canyon last month, and we actually seemed to notice the high concentration of VW Jettas driving around there. It's possible we were a little biased because we were in one, though.
Hearing that you're at the foot of the Flatirons makes me want to go back. Such great hikes there.

I'm just tired (and admittedly resentful) of this only being considered a women's issue. I know there are an increasing # of SAHDs out there; why does everyone still insist to focus this decision only on females?
