Having just read the above reviews, I do have to explain. Bicklemeyer's is THE restaurant in town. So they have a regular clientele, and I'm sure feel they know what they are doing. I've seen a waitress screw up a table next to us in so many ways, it drove me nuts (I've worked ant more than a few nice establishments in my youth) and even with all the errors, the family (local) left her a hefty tip. So, they think they are really something. I agree, bad food should be refused. I tend to order the same thing, so I haven't had that experience myself. But I can sure see the small town attitutude coming thru in the above reviews, (the wait staff). Ask for the owners, not the waiters, it might help. They are usually there. I'm not sure if it will help. I couldn't eat a charred steak either.
Go when Tom is playing piano, and be sure to ask to sit where you can hear. That may mean close to the door or in the smoking secton. We had to sit far opposite last time and couldn't hear him over all the people talking, and that was very disappointing. Food is good to great. (I'm not into fries). Mid priced meals to expensive steaks. Nice folks, can be very very busy. Never go on prom night, the place is packed.
Small town service, don't be thinking you're in NYC, you're likely to go right over the heads of some of these service people <wink>.
Having almost lost one, I wished I had died along with him, seeing him struggle with their attempts to save him, the pain. And then seeing his miserable life. Then to lose another suddenly, we all wished we had died too. It truly killed us all, we were never the same again. Now, to be seeing that first mentioned struggle through the slow death. The story above,to know the fate of all quickly, a blessing in disguise, yes a horror, and terribly wrong. But far better than not knowing, or long torture. Those who haven't gone through this, cannot understand. Yes, torture of one kind, and I can't understand the possible religious beliefs, but as for humane...all together..none left to suffer. Cruel...yes.
This time we had take out. We now eat there about once a week now that Quick's is closed. We've eaten there since it was built. I know everyone has there own particular style of BBQ that they just HAVE to rave about, and they want to put down anything less. But Bob's has always done a great job of cooked briskets and meats. Ribs turn out delicious everytime. They cook the meats and let you decide how spicey you want to make it, so the whole family can be happy. I really like that. I hate having to go to bland places for the kids and mild palates when I want some hotter sauce. In my opinion the potato salad is the worst in the world, but the longhorn cheese is great, and the fritters and pickles are always a treat. I'm full with just a wheel sandwich so I don't get sides, you'll have to get others opinions on those. My kids have loved the mounted heads since early childhood. And choose from the small but suitable kids menu. The price range listed isn't right, you can eat a few dollars cheaper. Look for coupons too!
There once was a great man named Joe, Whose new girl might not give it a go. It did mess with his head, and it kept him from bed. All night long, not a wink did he know.
I haven't been in for over a year...we used to go every so often, food varied, but we went as a group, so the choice was theirs.
Here's what got me. We had separate tickets. Our waitress...didn't bother to bring the coin change for the people who paid cash. She just took it upon herself to assume they wouldn't want it. Well, as most of the crowd was over 40 and she was early twenties...I hope she learned a lesson that night.
NO ONE at the table left her a tip. They made a joint decision that she had kept her own tip. Mind you, our group, some have worked in their early years in the service industry, and will often tip 20-25%, some of these folks make near 100K, or have retired easily. They weren't ordering cheap plates of food. If it was a new restaurant policy or something..no change to be given, it's a bad one! I don't remember what the total tab was for everyone, we did add it up that night, but she really screwed her self over. She had been a pretty bad waitress as I recall, we had a hard time getting things, water, drinks. Usual items seemed a hassle for her.

"Never again," so say we all...again and again and again.

The Life Robbing Sin - Dread
My deadliest sin is now far from remission,
reminders pop into my thoughts all the time.
It's not that I have such a lot of addition,
but lacking the knowledge, it poisons my mind.
For years I've been able to basically able to edit,
the same thing I did on the previous year.
Just checking to see what they changed, any credits?,
make multiple copies and transmit from here.
But this year is different, a glitch in my habit,
a tax issue I know not how to arrange.
A second house came to me and I did sell it,
I'm told it will cost me a small chunk of change.
The question , is whether I'll owe any money.
My work is all volunteer, I get no pay.
Taxable income, I usually have none.
Will I still owe them this chunk anyway?
It seems like we ought to able to keep it,
with more going out than we have coming in.
But I guess they'll have some way that they can use it,
If a CPA can answer, would you please write in?
