That closeup of Brolin creeps me out.
While Bush's actions have been truly scary, the man himself looks like a little chimpanzee. Come to think of it, if Oliver Stone cast a chimpanzee in the biopic, I'd totally see it. Chimps always make a movie better.

I admit that the twist in Fight Club totally got me. But I had not yet read the book at that point, and have not seen the movie since reading the novel. I try not to watch movies based on books I've read and enjoyed-- it almost always ruins it for me.
And I totally get your annoyance with M. Night, and Signs in particular. I honestly don't know why I kept watching his films, since I don't recall liking any of them. Good marketing I guess. They always looked so intriguing in the previews. I'm a sheep.
Agreed on the Apes remake, Jon. I cringe just thinking about it... Seems like Tim Burton used to come out with good movies on occasion. What happened?

DOTDOT, I read that Atlantic article -- cool stuff. That same issue has a great article on the psychology of speculative bubbles, and the staggering parallels between now and 1929 (yes, it's depressing, but an interesting read nonetheless). They haven't updated the online content yet, but hopefully they'll post the full article for that one soon.

The Flaming Lips do Zeppelin? With nudity?
Suddenly Wakarusa sounds much more appealing.

Ditto on what Shelby said. You'll rock the CASA.
Zing!
And apparently you're also well on your way to being a cult film legend, so that ain't a bad thing either.

Well, shit. That WAS basically the sentiment I was going to express. The trailer and clips I've seen look great. Fantastic work Rob, Curvacia, and Misty. I AM very much looking forward to seeing it in the fall.

And the I've heard the latest and greatest lithium batteries (check out Phoenix: http://www.phoenixmotorcars.com/vehicles...) can have a life of over 100,000 miles, so that cuts down drastically on the overall waste. When these cars come out, however, you're looking at $50K, but hopefully competition and technology will drive the prices of hybrid and electric vehicles down. It's already starting to happen. Toyota plans to both increase gas mileage and decrease the sticker price on the 2009 Prius.
And the better these batteries get at holding a charge (there are prototypes that go as far as 250 miles between charges), the less overall energy needs to come from your electrical socket.
Plus electric motors are WAY more reliable than internal combustion engines. Only one moving part, no grease, very little wear, etc. -- virtually no maintenance is needed for the motor.
We have a LONG way to go before electric vehicles will be able to haul as much as an 18-wheeler though.
And there do seem to be more viable clean options for the commercial electrical industry than biofuels, fuel cells, and the like.

Meet the Press has been a Sunday morning tradition for me for probably ten years. It's pretty much the only television news program I watch, because no one was better at making politicians squirm than Russert. While he didn't shy from confronting them, he was still civil about it, and he made sure he had the facts and quotes to back himself up. I would get giddy when he would say "are you sure about that?" because you knew he was getting ready to hand their ass to them, usually using the interviewee's own words from a few months prior.
