Hayes Hamburger & Chili

This place is so bad, it doesn't even deserve a comment.

Seriously terrible.

What I've been reading

Joel, I understand. You are forgiven.

What I've been reading

Also, should say that Irving read from Owen Meaney and it was fantastic. Rowling read from Half Blood Prince and was expectantly tight-lipped about Harry's future- and King read the puke-a-rama scene made famous by the movie Stand By Me. I have to admit that it was one of the most fun nights I've ever had. . . which makes me a complete nerd but I don't care.

What I've been reading

Joel,

I work a block away from Strand. You should have psychically known that and come in to say hello.

Right now I'm reading Cell by Stephen King. I started reading it because Frank and I were going to see Stephen King, John Irving, and JK Rowling speak last week at Radio City Music Hall (we did and it was AWESOME)- and I haven't read a King book in years. It's not that good. But, it's kinda fun.

Thirtysomething

I was just thinking the other day how Sex and the City is the worst show to watch before you move to NYC. Of course, I still love the show, but- I was watching an episode the other day where Carrie is 1) Walking down the middle of the street in 5 inch heels after being out all night 2) Strutting her stuff, looking like a prostitute while presumably walking all over the city ALONE and 3) she's so happy to be hung over and living in New York that she waves to a sanitation worker.

Actually living here I can say the following: 1) I will never wear high heels again unless I know I am taking a cab everywhere and will be guaranteed a seat as soon as I enter a building- and even then, I probably still wouldn't. 2) Sometimes you do have to walk around alone at night, but you do it with your phone in one hand and your keys in the other and you try really hard not to be confused for a whore and 3) Well, really. The sanitation worker? C'mon.

Thirtysomething

Can we do the same thing with "Brangelina"?

Happy Birthday, Mag!

Clearly Cleary

Ramona is absolutely, positively the reason I am a reader today. My dad bought me the complete Ramona Quimby set for Christmas when I was 7 or 8 and I devoured them. I heard an interview with Beverly Cleary on NPR the other day. You know, for 30 years she answered all of her own fan mail? So great.

Shamrocks and Shenanigans

I think the Beastie Boys may also have "more rhymes than J.D.'s got Sallinger." Which, for your information, is a whole lot of rhymes.
