"With more players the game actually becomes strategic. Use your bow gunner to engage your prey from a distance while your lance and broad swordsmen sneak behind the monster to deal some major damage up close."
don't you mean "sneak behind the monster to hits its weak point for MASSIVE DAMAGE!" ?
exactly. i really want the "console formerly known as Revolution" to be a success because i think the controller is an awesome idea. but i really don't see the non-gaming/informed crowd taking to the name at all. it is almost impossible to take it seriously. plus, the explanation (that the "i"s look like people or the controller) is fairly weak and ends up falling flat (in my opinion). also, no matter how good the marketing is, it will always be awkward to say "i'm gonna go play zelda on my wii."
i would like to point out that it is possible to switch to the 3rd person view in multiplayer (it is in the options menu). i didn't realize this until someone pointed out the option to me in a match because i was disturbed by the switch to 1st person also.
i too would love to see some of the great final fantasy games come out again with the next gen polish. on the idea of final fantasy losing its turn based system, check out the system for final fantasy 12 which looks to take the turn based set up to a new level (programmable team mates, ability to move during battle, etc.); however, to completely remove the turn based aspect of the battle system from a final fantsay game would be heresy (spelling?). the farthest i think one could go from removing the turn based system would be either that of ff12 or possibly parasite eve (with tweaks).
and can i get a w00t for zombies ate my neighbors? i personally would rather see it is a qualty top down shooter than a fps or behind the back 3rd person game. i mean, how sweet would it be to see next gen 2d games? i think it would be pretty freaking sweet, especially with all the fancy tricks they can do with the systems.
now, my personal desire to see a classic game remade (other than final fantasy 7 which wasn't 16 bit but is probably the greatest console rpg ever) is final fantasy tactics. though the game came out on the playstation1 it definitely could use the next gen upgrade due to the amazing story (which would benefit like ff4 would) and because a more robust battle system could be implemented (not entirely new, but tweaks and improvements to the original system which was probably my favorite battle system ever).
so yeah i'm slow getting to this blog, but to say the ps3's pricing is a rumor is rediculous. think about this -- the gpu that the ps3's is based on sells for about $500 now and it still isn't compacted enough to be reasonable in a console. so it will only cost more for the stupid thing to be used in a console. the cpu is still not even in any consumer products so there is no cash flow from it yet (let alone consumer testing on its stability and practicality or power). so that will costs loads of money. sure the 360's cpu is also a new design, but not so much as the ps3 because 360 is essentially 3 chained together g5's while the ps3 has a g5 controlling eight other cpus (but has a huge bottelneck too).
so i'm gonna stick with matt on this one -- ps3 is going to be too expensive in the us. and add ot that sony's lack of any online infrastructure and ms has a significant head start.

E3: Lost Planet - 360
compared to parasite eve he is flying, i might even hazard to say he is more moving at warp 9.9.
