Style Scout Ginny Williams

I really wish the nasty comments above would be deleted by admins. The people who agree to do style scout are putting themselves out there for the enjoyment/entertainment of Lawrence.com readers and don't deserve to be criticized in this way. Also, what the hell, Lawrence?! Has no one ever heard of the rule, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all"? Or is it just that the lure of anonymity has blinded your ability to make sound moral judgements?

Regardless, I think Ginny looks absolutely adorable - the perfect combination of girly mixed with a nice dose of attitude! So cute!

Adam's chocolate torte: simply perfect

Yummy! I followed overthemoon's lead and folded some orange zest into the melted chocolate and added a bit to the whipped cream as well - delicious! I used a springform pan as well and it definitely helped the torte keep its shape. I also found that letting it sit in the fridge or freezer for a little while after baking helped enhance the overall texture.

Super delicious and EASY, awesome recipe!

I realize that a lot of you are anonymous, so you feel that insulting this young woman is completing acceptable, but it makes me sick to my stomach. Whatever happened to the rule, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" - not to mention just basic manners. I would imagine none of you would walk up to this girl if she were on the street and say these things to her and I would imagine none of you would like the same things said about you.

Also, she's the owner of Bauhaus, a high-end clothing boutique. Wouldn't it be odd if she were wearing $15 items from target? Of course she's going to be wearing expensive pieces, thats her business.

I'm so sick of the insulting comments that people leave on these style scouts. The people that agree to do these are putting themselves out there and making themselves vulnerable and it sucks that there are actually people in Lawrence who take this opportunity to insult them. Grow up.

Mirth

Mirth is no corporate restaurant, the food is all cooked super fresh out of a tiny kitchen, often with only one cook and one waitress -- so be patient! It doubles as both a coffee shop and a full-blow restaurant with monthly dinner specials, so let the person working know whether you're just in for coffee/tea/internet/study session or if you'd like to have a sit down meal -- either way, they're happy to help, but if you grab a cup of coffee, whip out your laptop and don't say anything to them, expect them to think you're just in to soak up some bandwidth and not offer you a menu.

Overall a great restaurant, locally owned but mostly run by college students doing their best to make people happy -- be nice and patient and they'll be equally as pleasant right back!
