Estimated quarterly value of my ability to mooch (in US $): since it won't let me put my web page address where it belongs - http://www.myspace.com/marcymc

Favorite Lawrence restaurant: Vermont Street BBQ

Favorite local band: Split Lip Rayfield

How I came to live in Lawrence (if applicable): Born in Emporia. My family escaped the summer before my 3rd grade year. We landed in Lawrence (I claim to be a native). Went to ESU. Upon graduation...I ran back to home sweet home.

Hobbies: Travel (especially NYC),Reading, writing, babysitting my nephews (technically not a hobby--but fun), surfin' the net, acting impulsively, the occasional bad painting, and the one EVERYONE gives me crap for--traveling to events to meet my fave soap stars...guilty pleasure, indeed.

Favorite music: Old school tunes: Beatles, Monkees, Simon & Garfunkel, Hank Williams Sr., Elvis, Billy Joel, Elton John, Cher, Patsy Cline, Bon Jovi, Burt Bacharach, Madonna, John Denver,Neil Diamond, Sinatra, John (Cougar) Mellencamp, Johnny Cash, Stevie Wonder and my guiltiest pleasure ...Mr. Wayne Newton (dragged my poor unsuspecting ex-roomie to a Waynie concert in Vegas on her 21st b-day, therefore stripping her of the 21st b-day experience), Split Lip Rayfield, Dewayn Bros, Loco Macheen, White Ghost Shivers, North Mississippi All Stars, Truckstop Honeymoon

Favorite books: Any thriller, Harry Potter series, The Introvert Advantage, The Jerusalem Syndrome (by Marc Maron), To Kill a Mockingbird, anything I can get my hands on

Favorite TV shows: CSI, Big Brother (I shouldn't admit that), Without a Trace, Seinfeld...I've drastically cut back on the t.v. here of late...

Favorite movies: Austin Powers Trilogy, Shawshank Redemption, One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest, Grease, Notting Hill, any sappy and predictable, cheesy "chick flick"... I like bad movies and I cannot lie

Opinion on West Lawrence: Have we merged boundaries with Topeka yet? I hope not..

Opinion on the smoking ban: Breathing is good. Now, if they'd pass a ban on B.O. in public venues...we'd be set!

A short essay on why I am or am not a hipster: You be the judge! I groove to the Carpenters for heavens sake. Need I say more?

Tonight

Film: "Hip Hop, Beyond Beats and Rhymes" :: A riveting examination of manhood, sexism, and homophobia in hip-hop culture. Director Byron Hurt conceived the documentary as a "loving critique" of a number of disturbing trends in the world of rap ... More info
