That ride is out of control. Take up space, take up space!

At our youth party last Saturday I was struck by the Fort Lauderdale/Miami youth and just how outside the gender binary they were.
One black youth in particular dressed in women’s boots and performed to Beyonce. This youth has yet to decide which gender they wanted to identify as. If this youth were killed tomorrow they would identify them as a gay black male, never touching on this bigger part of their identity and the right to not choose a gender.
As my colleague and I watched the party I was overcome with sadness, as I do not think the youth often get the opportunity of safety to be themselves.
Within my work I must always check myself as I feel there are so many things we could be working on as a movement. I feel like I need to be on the ground working with the trans community in Fort Lauderdale instead of only working in Miami with wealthy gay men.
Its not that I feel that working in Miami is unimportant I just worry that people with the highest need are being left behind.

Don't shut yourself away from the world; there is much that it needs to learn.
I am on my way to you. See you soon.

Billy, Billy how you make my heart flutter with thoughts of bonobos and Ted Talks. I love you and your little chip. I like to kiss you both in the corner of your mouths.
It has been quite the journey in such a short amount of time. I'm glad we can rep Bushwick together.

So very terrifying in many different ways.

"I am a poor person trying her darndest to get a hold on some type of something"
This is how I feel everyday. I try not to let it eat at me.
Being a weaver of good fortune would be nice. I always feel half of a paycheck away from disaster especially so far from my base. Still trying to push forward and do a good job in L.A., cultivating relationships here while hoping to strengthen
Remember to tend the threads you have control over. I will return home soon.

Just wanted to say how much I appreciate what you did for Bingham.
There are many ways in which each of us saves the others life, in little chunks, a bit at a time.

I tried to explain to people that I missed rain, I missed fog. The beach we visited last night made me think of you. Bright waning moon, boys wrestling in the surf and sand, and the slight fog amid palm trees and the gaudy lights of the Santa Monica Pier.
Wishing I could hold your hand as we giggled at the two dykes wearing identical white "beaters", making out near a lit candle (I imagined it smelled of some forgettable floral arrangement).
I ran from the dark clumps of seaweed. I wanted you to think me brave so I ran after the tide instead, stomping and splashing it, careful to miss the seaweed.
Come visit me, bring the pups, well run after the tide together.

Billy, Billy: I, of all people, would be the last to call you a lesbian.
Unless roleplay is involved. *wink*

It is truly scary to be an assumed danger in some armed police officers equation. To be on the wrong side of that equation can mean humiliation, fear and even death. I spent this morning on my way to the subway hoping that they weren't conducting bag searches.
