I've noticed something... If you wear Banana Republic, J Crew and other preppy brands... you're a hipster. If you wear old man pants and a flannel from a thrift store... you're a hipster. If you wear a rock and roll teesh and ripped up jeans... you're a hipster. If you make your own clothes and attempt to be unique... you're a hipster. If you shop at wal mart on the cheap (EVERYone can tell you're being ironic)... you're a hipster. (And that old navy man bag is SO hipster!) If you wear fubu and a cock your hat... you're probably a hipster, ya hipster.
"hipster" is such a generic and uncreative way of condescending someone. if you're going to take the time to insult somebody's style (or lifestyle), at least use a label that means something (or sounds funny), ya hobnobbin' munch.

I love how innocent fashion scouting becomes a window to a socio-economic struggle... (every week seemingly). Bring the Culture Wars to the most benign and inoffensive pages of the internets! We're ready to be Offended!

Wow. The vitriol on the Style Scout comment board has hit a new low in the last few weeks. Apparently everyone can be broken down into a mockable stereotype. They're either too fratty, too hip, too granola, too goth (a new one), too normal, too old. They're trying too hard or they're not trying enough. Etc. Even if I'm not particularly inspired by these peoples' fashion preferences, I have to hand it to Caitlin for keeping it as varied as she has. It's kind of amazing she can get anyone to volunteer nowadays. "Hey can I take your picture so a bunch of anonymous losers online can rip on you and feel better about themselves?" Let's see a Style Scout featuring the likes of somedude20, dogsandcats, and the other trolls of the comment board board.
